PRODUCTS/VB250 DVB-T COFDM INPUT MODULE
The VB250 input option offers monitoring of COFDM signals as found in DVB-T networks. The chassis can be equipped with a single VB120 or VB220 IP-PROBE master card and up to two VB250 COFDM input cards under its control.
The complete configuration with the fully licensed VB120 provides real-time monitoring and alarming for two DTT RF inputs, 10 IP MPTS/SPTS multicasts and one ASI TS input. ETSI TR 101 290 analysis is performed in parallel for DTT inputs, the ASI input and the IP input. If the VB220 is used as master card the IP monitoring capacity is increased to impressive 180 MPTS/SPTS multicasts.
The combined unit is ideal for hybrid networks where IP is used as a carrier from head-end to the transmitter tower. The built-in round-robin functionality allows sequential analysis of multiple DTT multiplexes, making it possible to monitor a complete DTT transmission system using a single VB250. COFDM-specific parameters such as BER before and after Viterbi FEC are accessible.
The VB250 COFDM input option card is an ideal solution for complete monitoring in DVB-T or hybrid DVB-T/IP networks. One VB250 module is capable of demodulating a DVB-T multiplex for ETSI TR 101 290 fault detection and alarm generation in the full DVB-T frequency band (49 – 861 MHz). By running in sweep mode the VB250 module is further capable of measuring analogue signal levels, in effect offering the operator a basic frequency analyser function at the deployment location.
A 1 pulse-per-second GPS input allows the VB250 to measure and alarm on SFN drift. SFN drift is a problem that leads to worsened reception conditions for the end users, and it is of vital importance to monitor drift in order to correct errors before they become service affecting.
