NEWS/VB270 DVB-S/S2 Module Extends Suite of Monitoring Technologies for Broadcasters
(Las Vegas, Nevada - 20th April 2009)
Bridge Technologies has announced the VB270, a new VideoBRIDGE module that provides monitoring and analysis of signals in DVB-S and DVB-S2 satellite transponders. The compact VB270 module is designed to extend the functionality of the VB120 Broadcast IP Probe Blade or the VB220 IP Probe Blade, delivering continuous monitoring of hybrid networks where IP is used as a carrier from head-end to the satellite uplink station.
With its QPSK monitoring capability, the VB270 complements the existing VB250 (for DVB-T networks) and VB260 (for DVB-C cable networks), to provide a complete signal monitoring solution for broadcasters in most countries. When matched with a VB220 master unit in a single blade chassis, two VB270 modules can provide monitoring of up to 180 MPTS/SPTS multicasts.
“The VB270 is the last link in the chain of monitoring modules required for complete signal monitoring capabilities in most parts of the world,” said Simen K. Frostad, Chairman, Bridge Technologies. “The modular and compact nature of the range makes it possible for broadcasters to achieve a total monitoring operation with a minimum of space and power consumption.”
The VB270 is also capable of sequential analysis of multiple QPSK multiplexes, making it possible to monitor a complete transponder with a single VB270 module. By running in sweep mode the VB270 module is further capable of measuring analogue signal levels, giving the operator a basic frequency analyser function at the deployment location.
